Looking back at November and ahead to a bright summer
As November comes to an end in Western Australia, there is a quiet shift in the air. The light changes, temperatures rise and many workplaces begin to think about the final weeks of the year and the summer ahead. It is a good moment to pause and recognise the people who have carried so much through the year so far.
Across healthcare, childcare and ict, teams have continued to show up for their communities in ways that rarely make headlines. Nurses, support workers and allied health staff have been holding steady through long days and complex needs. Educators have been guiding children through big feelings and new learning. ICT professionals have been keeping systems running so that services can operate safely and efficiently.
In our work at BB Recruitment, November has been a month of listening closely to both services and candidates. Many organisations are planning for holiday rosters, backfilling leave and thinking about how to start the new year with stable teams. Candidates are weighing up opportunities, promotions and career changes, while also planning time with family and friends. Every placement conversation sits inside that bigger picture of real life.
We have seen again how closely connected our three core sectors now are. Digital systems are shaping how healthcare and childcare operate. Workforce pressures in one area can quickly affect another. When we support a service to recruit, we look not only at the vacancy in front of us, but at how that role supports people across the wider system.
Over the next few days our BB newsletter will be landing, with more detail on November highlights and sector insights. It will include stories from healthcare, reflections from early learning services and updates from ICT teams who have been quietly improving the way tools and data are used. The newsletter will also share practical ideas for leaders preparing for the busy year end period.
Looking ahead, we know that summer brings both opportunity and pressure. Some services will have quieter periods, with a chance to reset, review and plan. Others will be at their busiest, particularly in aged care, community health and family focused settings. Wherever your organisation sits on that spectrum, strong staffing and supportive culture will continue to make the difference.
As we move into a new season, our focus remains the same, to support the people who care for everyone else, directly and indirectly. We look forward to a great summer, an excellent Christmas and new year period, and to continuing our work alongside you in the months to come.
If you would like to talk about workforce planning for the summer and beyond, we would be glad to hear from you.
